About Me:
My name is Thomas Fitch, I am a Journalism major at The University of Texas at Austin (Class of 2021). I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I attended Alamo Heights High School where I graduated with distinguished honors. I played golf all four years at Alamo Heights as well as being a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. I did Boy Scouts all throughout high school as well, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, and completing the Triple Crown of National High Adventure .
I am pursuing a career in sports journalism, specifically broadcasting or radio. I have been enthralled with sports ever since I was a baby and my parents used to turn on ESPN to get me to stop crying. Some of my earliest memories are going to Texas Longhorn and San Antonio Spurs games, most notably the 2005 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl.
I chose to attend the University of Texas at Austin's Moody College of Communications in 2017 and have not regretted that decision one bit. At UT I have been actively involved with Texas Student Media, specifically the sports department of Texas Student Television (TSTV). TSTV is the only student run, student produced, FCC licensed, digitally broadcasted college TV station in the country. The TSTV Sports department has three shows, and I have been very involved with two of them (College Pressbox and TSTV Gameday). College Pressbox is the most professional, TV news station-like show, where I have held the roles of social media editor and senior producer. It is a weekly, 30 minute long show that features highlights, packages, and analysis of everything from the past week in Longhorn athletics. TSTV Gameday is TSTV Sports' live spots broadcasting channel, where the crew goes out and films a UT club sport event with play-by-play and color announcers along with a pre-game, halftime, and post-game show.
I also produce my own podcast, the Thomas Fitch Sports show, which is recorded weekly in 30-45 minute episodes where I break down all sports, with a focus on UT athletics. I also often have guests on either for extra analysis, interviews, or fun segments. I run an Instagram page for the podcast where I post weekly highlights from the show to help promote it.
